  • This work may not be by Donizetti; Grove Music doesn't list it, and none of the 12 songs in Les nuits d'été à Pausilipper has such an incipit. In looking up the poet, Louis Crevel de Charlemagne, Le départ has an incipit of 'Adieu, tu vois mes larmes', and none of Donizetti's cycle has that title either. See discussion at http://imslpforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=5038.
  • Seemingly the only source that mentions this as Donizetti's is an 1847 catalogue for the Bibliothèque catholique de Termonde (Belgium). This could be a case of a composer wanting a more famous name on a piece of music to increase sales.
  • The Termonde catalogue lists it as a chant de guerrier for 2 voices and piano. For now, that will be how it is tagged, but if a version appears that is original and has a correct composer's name on it, these tags can be altered.
