3 Keyboard Trios, B.440-442 (Pleyel, Ignaz)
Arrangements and Transcriptions
Sonata in C major, B.440
Peters’ Organ Selections.
New York: J.L. Peters, 1877. Plate 12,024-3.
Without minore, but with sections repeated and elaborated. Oddly longer even though middle section has been removed- could this be another version of this movement from Pleyel's own output, or is it an improvisation on the Pleyel by an unspecified 19th-century organist (perhaps Henry Smart, with whose work this is coupled in the Peters edition)? Described as "Aria from Voluntary" - did Pleyel himself, perhaps, re-arrange this slow movement as an organ voluntary? Curious, curious...
