Aegean Suite was commissioned by Fine’s cousin Timothy Fine and his wife Mary Ellen for their twelve-year-old daughter Rachel. Having recently returned from a visit to Greece, Fine wrote three short movements which a precocious piano student would enjoy performing. There are challenging phrase shapes, asymmetrical meters, and extended trills, which add to the piece’s interest.
