General Information

Work Title Bergliot
Alternative Title
Composer Grieg, Edvard
Opus/Catalogue Number Op.42
Librettist Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832−1910)
Language Norwegian
Piece Style Romantic
Instrumentation speaker, orchestra (or piano reduction)

Misc. Comments

Grove describes Bergliot as "melodrama, spkr, orch, 1871, orchd 1885". This is ambiguous, since it would have been for orchestra originally, so the 1885 orchestration would have been unnecessary unless the orchestration was changed. Any further clarification would be appreciated.
