Category talk:Lanyon, W. Herbert

Possibly: according to a genealogy site (not the best source maybe)

William Herbert Lanyon, born 1862 (Dec.?) in Redruth. From other sources possibly the same Herbert Lanyon who is mentioned as known as a photographer and as having had a son in 1918, suggesting a fl. date of 1917 to be safeish. The book "Peter Lanyon: modernism and the land" does claim that the composer and photographer are one and the same though it doesn't follow that it isn't, say, a relative of this composer with the same or a similar name (this might not be William, despite my guess) that we're talking about. The book in question claims that the photographer-composer was still alive in 1923-24 (and held the rotating presidency of the St Ives society of Artists in that season; p.12.) Eric 19:23, 21 August 2011 (UTC) (or according to this biography born in Mineral Point December 26 1862, if this is the same person. "Transcribed from volume 4, pages 2076-2077 of A Standard History of Kansas and Kansans, written and compiled by William E. Connelley, Secretary of the Kansas State Historical Society, Topeka. Chicago: Lewis Publishing Company, copyright 1918; originally transcribed 1998, modified 2003 by Carolyn Ward." No mention of "Herbert" or "music" there however... - Schissel)
