Beno Majer was born on 9th of October 1736. The place of his birth is unknown. He graduated at the faculty of Philosophy and Teology where he got solid music education as an organ player. He worked as an organ player, choir conductor, and composer mostly in Karlovac, (Croatia), where he died on 20th of may 1818. Of his small musical opus, he is known only for his eleven sonatas for the organ, composed in Scarlatti's modus, without the pedal, trill-ornamented with rare alterations but very expressive musicality diatonic base of harmony.
