The existence of this page raises a question: should new works list the composer as an editor? This seems to be fairly common usage (although I don't know its origins), while somewhat nonsensical in my view - of course the composer of a work edited it (well...apart from recorded improvisations, I suppose ;-) ), so why should it be listed separately? This didn't really matter for a while, but with the new editor template we have the potential for a redundant situation in which a composer's works are listed in two places (the composer category and the editor category), as they are here. Now, I don't mean to pick on Schissel for creating the page - I've sort of been thinking this in the back of my mind for a couple months now, but was too lazy to bring it up until now (probably because this is a good opportunity/reminder more than anything else). But IMHO there doesn't seem to be too much of a point to listing the composer as editor, at least if we want to eliminate/reduce needless redundancy. Thoughts? That's a point, and I think I was acting fairly mindlessly anyhow (thinking more whether the work was uploaded using computer notating software or scanned manuscript, a tangential and irrelevant consideration!) - pick away, pick away :). after all, some were listed as edited, some as published, in this case a questionable distinction but one I respected Eric 19:44, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
