Misc. Comments

RISM interprets the first manuscript as a work for piano, perhaps on the basis of the title being "Claviersachen". At several points, however there are chords which are unplayable for any human with only two hands, and there are also indications for "ped" (pedal?) which suggest the use of organ. If so, this, together with the other collection of exercises for Organ here, could make up a possible volume of exercises covering all tonalities, although there would need to be an in-depth evaluation of the two collections to fully understand the contents. (supported by a small footnote in Bach's Feet: The Organ Pedals in European Culture, see above). - TW.
