Misc. Comments

A popular work at the time which accounts for the great number of copies that the editor knew about, some bearing the title "Quintetto", but he limited his edition to the comparison of two almost identical sets of parts, a hand-written one from the early 19th century owned by a private collector, the other owned by the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna. It is numbered 92 in Perger's catalog which was the only one available at the time of this edition.

1774 from worklists at haydn.dk. Recorded on a Musical Heritage Society LP (1979) and by Biedermeier Ensemble Wien (ca.1968), but it seems maybe not on CD (according to Allmusic, the string quintet/divertimento on a Koch 2-CD set that's in B (not identified in the documentation it seems) is the 35-40 minute MH 412 (which we also have), not a string quintet version of this divertimento.
