Navigation etc.

The original version is for two double basses. It was likely composed in the 1840s during Bottesini's studies or early solo career. At some point, it was arranged for violin and double bass by Camillo Sivori and they are recorded as having performed a "duet" together as early as 1852, and also in 1860. The work is listed as "Duo Concertante" in a performance by Bottesini and Prosper Sainton in 1862. The name "Gran Duo Concertante" first appears in the first edition of 1880.

The attribution to Sivori as arranger needs more examination. Bottesini was already playing this with his former-pupil, Luigi Arditi, in 1846. So while there may have been some later editorial contributions, it seems incorrect to cite Sivori as "arranger". - Icactus 14:46, 26 November 2021 (CET)
