The title page to the music clearly spells the composer's name "Froment", not "Fromant", although the Bibliothèque nationale de France spells it "Fromant" (though a simple mistake on their part is not impossible). Still, the exact identity of the composer has not yet been found, although from dates alone, Léon Froment (1869-1934) can be excluded, since the arranger flourished around 1785, and the libretto for the comedy states that it was performed in 1784. Further research would be welcome.
The libretto at BnF describes the full work as a "Comédie en un acte et en Prose, Mêlee de Vaudeville et d'Ariettes". This is not vaudeville in the same sense of the late 19th-century American vaudeville, since most of those were variety shows with no librettos or plots. Tagged for now as incidental music, similar to plays with incidental music inserted between the prose.
