History

After 10 years in Basel as a flutist and publisher, Johann Carl Gombart (1752-1816), followed by his son Wilhelm, of Augsburg, published a variety of classical era works from 1794 to 1836. Gombart's wife had connections with the famous Welser merchant family.

In addition to famous composers such as Joseph and Michael Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Carl Maria von Weber, the catalog represented composers such as Franz Christoph Neubauer, Johannes Amon, Adalbert Gyrowetz, Johann Abraham Sixt and Joseph von Eybler.
