Linking from Wikipedia to IMSLP
The interwiki prefix
scores:
can be used in Wikipedia and all other Wikimedia projects for linking to IMSLP.
For uniform and easily modifiable link formatting, templates can be used. The existing templates and their usage are described in the following sections.
When creating new templates, they should ideally be constructed in such a way that they can be used even without understanding the language. When translating a template, it may be a good idea to keep the same or a similar structure (same parameter names), such that the templates can be copied from one language to another.
Composer templates
The template "IMSLP" can be used to link to a composer category page, e.g. Category:Mozart, Wolfgang Amadeus. In all cases, an identifier is needed, which is simply the part behind the colon of the category page URL:

Work templates
The template "IMSLP2" can be used to link to a work page, e.g. Swan Lake, Op. 20 (Tchaikovsky, Pyotr Ilyich). In all cases, an identifier is needed, which is simply the part behind the last slash of the work page URL:

Linking from IMSLP to Wikipedia
Interwiki prefix
Wikipedia articles can be linked much like local pages, using the prefix wikipedia:. E.g. [[wikipedia:Robert Schumann|]] yields Robert Schumann (use the pipe symbol | to hide the prefix). This works also for languages other than English, e.g. [[wikipedia:de:Robert Schumann|Robert Schumann]] - Robert Schumann (link to German article - note that here the link text is given explicitly, otherwise the language prefix de: remains visible in spite of the pipe symbol).
Languages
5Y will from time to time look up the links to various language versions on Wikipedia and add them to IMSLP (using the #iflang parser function). At the moment this is done only for composer biography links.

Linking between IMSLP and CPDL
It would be nice to link from IMSLP composer category pages to CPDL composer pages, and back. This has been proposed in the CPDL forum at the beginning of April 2007, but up to now nobody at CPDL has been willing to grant us permission to carry out this project. --jujimufu 06:43, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
