IMSLP:Special:AddFile/MainText
Free public domain sheet music from IMSLP / Petrucci Music Library
The work page field should be left as-is. Typesetter is mandatory for typesets but not for scans. Also, please read the score submission guidelines and guide/walkthrough before using any of the forms. A detailed explanation of each field in this form can be found on this page, in the text column on the right.
Please try to fill in as much publisher information as possible, using the format given below.
The file size limit for uploads is currently 150MB. However, the recommended file size for normal scans is still <20MB (this does not apply to manuscript scans); any file larger than that will show the file size in red to warn users. Please break up the file into smaller sections (movements, etc) if the file is overly large; tools for that purpose can be found on the PDF page. If you want to upload multiple files that exceed 150MB combined, please upload them separately.
To upload files using pURLs use the old form.
File Name: Mandatory.' Enter the file name of the file you want to upload and submit. As this will also be the filename on the server, please use an identifiable filename with composer and work!
Work Page: Use the default. Do not change unless you know what you are doing.
File Description: A brief description of the file uploaded (ex. Complete score, Complete score of first movement, Complete score of all movements, Piano reduction, Orchestral parts, etc.). If the file is a typeset file, then typeset score is frequently added to this field. This field is mandatory.
Editor: The person who edited the score. This is not always known, usually the editor is printed on top of the first page (e.g. edited by... or in french revue par... or éditée par.... This field can concern the original editor, and in case of a typeset score, the editor of the typeset.
File/Image Type: This choice is mandatory. Typesets and retypesets are files which are produced using methods other than scanning a published score (i.e. file created electronically from Finale, Sibelius, or any other music notation software). A "manuscript scan" is a scan of handwritten music.
Scanner/Typesetter: This is the place to mention the source of the score. This field is mandatory for typesets!
- For Scans: This field should include the name of the person who scanned the file, or the website where the file was obtained.
- For Typesets: Please put the name of the typesetter here, or the site where the file was obtained.
Uploader: This is the name that shows up on the page; if left blank the username under which you are currently logged in as will be used. In both cases the link itself will always point to the user page of the username under which you're currently logged in.
Publisher Information: Very important. You can find publisher information usually on the bottom of the first page of the score. The format for this field is as follows (leave the brackets out):
- <Place>: <Publisher>, No. <Publisher's catalog number>, <Date>. Plate <Plate number>.
For help identifying the publisher, see this page. For entering special cases, see also this page.
Copyright: Self explanatory. A detailed summary of the Creative Commons licenses can be found here.
Misc notes: In this field, notes about the quality of the score are frequently added. E.g. low resolution, grayscale, 300 dpi. Generally, high quality is reserved for files that are printable (>300dpi), and Low quality is for files that are not easily readable on screen (<75 dpi).
Separator Type: This is to put a separator between the previous file submission on the page and the one which you are creating. Only use this if you want to differentiate between different sets of scans/typesets. Do not use to separate single submissions.
