IMSLP talk:Featured

Hmm... this is not exactly what I thought was the meaning of this list. Now it's just a list of someone's favorite works (someone we don't know), while this list should contain some very fine scores, nice scans, complete collections, etc... I'm thinking of the Swan Lake (when it's gonna be complete), or the addition of all of beethoven's string quartets, etc...--Peter 16:46, 5 April 2007 (EDT)

Wow... I didn't even notice the featured list got changed... Anyway, I'd agree Swan Lake is a nice one... but Beethoven's String Quartets would also be great if we could do it, though we would have to put up a page with a listing of the String Quartets (or maybe do a category intersect with Beethoven and String Quartets?). --Feldmahler 17:58, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Actually, I'm going to try this and see what happens :) --Feldmahler 17:59, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
I think that we should add Beethoven Symphonies (Liszt transcript) to, because that attracts a lot of traffic since its complete edition is quite rare on both P2P and other sheetsites. --Funper 18:02, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
That's nice... the only little problem is that the publisher isn't stated; if you can find out who published it, then I'd be willing to put it on the list :) --Feldmahler 18:06, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Breitkopf and Härtel, since this is the only edition I have ever found on the net and since they are the first publishers of these transcripts (Liszt even corresponded with Breitkopf and Härtel as early as 1838 and 1850). --Funper 18:19, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Huh, the scores are even in "Breitkopf-style" so there isn't really more than that! --Funper 18:21, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Great... now put the information on the page ;) --Feldmahler 18:39, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
And done! --Funper 18:54, 5 April 2007 (EDT)
Just a thought - should they be listed under Beethoven for composer, instead of Liszt? I thought that transcriptions belonged under their original composer. Rob 09:00, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
Correct, but Liszt's transcription output is so massive that we decided to put it under Liszt. Thanks to Funper for these great collections btw.--Peter talk 13:40, 30 July 2008 (EDT)

Just an idea, should we put up the complete Handelgesellschaft (and the practically complete Bach-gesellschaft when the last file is up) on this list? They are both true achievements--SnaileyYell at me 12:29, 16 October 2008 (EDT)

Go ahead, blow some life in this list! --Peter talk 14:25, 16 October 2008 (EDT)
It is getting kind of long...The layout might need to be reconsidered on the main page; It's causing a large blank space at the bottom. Delete some? Perhaps it should be given its own block on the main page?--SnaileyYell at me 22:10, 17 October 2008 (EDT)
I've tried to reset it sort of like wikipedia's and the news...I just archive all of the old.

Perhaps only one at a time?--Snailey Yell at me 18:23, 15 November 2008 (EST)

Updating

I think that someone should update this list to include one new score at least once a week. It makes the site feel stale if the same scores are up all the time.Snailey Yell at me Email me 19:02, 21 November 2008 (EST)

Actually, updating it daily is relatively easy...I hope I won't run out! --Snailey Yell at me Email me 13:00, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Schubert Song Cycles

I'm thinking of putting the Schubert song cycles+Schwanengesang as featured - his complete songs would be next after the Lied der mignon is uploaded - but should Schwanengesang be considered a song cycle, as it is not technically such?--Snailey Yell at me Email me 12:53, 2 December 2008 (EST)

Randomize it

Instead of having manual feature score list, how about just put everything into a pot and randomize it? I'm not overly knowledgeable about coding issues but I imagine MediWiki should be able to have something like that pretty easily. Perhaps have two new ones, and a section for more feature stuff that's random? Just tossing it out there... ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 11:32, 1 February 2009 (EST)

But how could we code in the criteria. The entire point is that it's only those scores with certain properties. Please read over the page carefully. I am trying to not do similar genres, composers, or publishers in a row, for the same reason as randomization would be good.-- Snailey Yell at me Email me 16:54, 1 February 2009 (EST)
By 'everything in the pot' I meant all the 'featured' scores of course. I dunno how easy it would be to do, but it was just a thought, and since they are all in a single catagory... ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 20:36, 5 February 2009 (EST)
Well, we don't repeat items...-- Snailey Yell at me Email me 20:54, 5 February 2009 (EST)
And I usually can't find more than two at a time, so I couldn't get enough.-- Snailey Yell at me Email me 20:58, 5 February 2009 (EST)

Calling on Translators!

Could someone translate at least some of the more recent or special (i.e. Complete works) entries?-- Snailey Yell at me Email me 12:35, 25 February 2009 (EST)
