The work exists in two versions in effect, H55A "Le retour à la vie" (1831, not yet called Lélio!, premiered in 1832), revised by 1855 (H55B), now called "Lélio, ou le retour à la vie", premiered in Weimar (in German translation) (Berlioz conducting during one of the Liszt-organized "Berlioz Weeks" (Berlioz-Woche?) there).
