Seven pieces belong to this opus in the violin/piano version (which appears to be the original), but the published piano comprise only six in any given collection, by omitting either Étude-arabesque (No.4) or En partant (No.3). The sequence shown below follows the violin/piano score, with numbers in brackets representing the sequence in Bessel's and Leduc's respective piano editions that each combined Op.20 with Op.39 as 18 Miniatures:
