There are two intersecting sets of pieces for this opus. Seven pieces altogether belong to it, but only six of them might be found in a given collection. The "alternates," as it were, are apparently "Étude-arabesque" and "En partant."

Numbers in parentheses represent the order in Bessel's and Leduc's respective piano editions that combine Op. 20 with Op. 39 as "18 Miniatures."
