Four movement performing version using the “Shepherd Melody” (Hirtenmelodien) from Rosamunde as the basis for the second movement.
This performing version treats all the manuscript sources for D72 as source material for a re-conceived complete composition. The versions here of the Allegro fragment as well as the Minuet and Finale contain deviations from the manuscript for which there is no justification other than personal preference. Since the Minuet and Finale are readily available in various editions of good or reasonably good quality, performers may choose to use those instead.
