Misc. Comments

D.8A is an arrangement of this work for string Quartet.

Deutsch gives 1970 for year of first publication while noting "2. Fassung", which is a bit confusing (perhaps the 1948 edition was incomplete.)

Dedicated to Ferdinand Schubert: see digital copy of manuscript @ Juilliard (via WorldCat.) Seems to have been intended for publication ca. 1811. To quote the last-noted Worldcat: "Contains extensive autograph corrections and deletions in black or brown ink, with composer's modifications providing an alternate version for string quartet written in pencil throughout score and viola Imo pt. In black ink at right bottom of score t.p.: Eigenthum von C A Spina.
Probable projected publisher's pl. no. N 50 appears in black ink at foot of score t.p., and bottom of pts. t.p. and 1st p. of each pt. as: N 50 C A Spina."
