||Was "W.S." ever a Rörich plate prefix? This might be a later version from another publisher?|
This Rörich score has a W.S. plate, which can be verified in the ÖNB catalogue. The print is strange as page 1 is blank. I assume that Rörich used an older plate and removed the title page. W.S. might be Wilhelm Schmid in Nürnberg. -afp0815
No-- W.S. is probably (perhaps?) Wessely & Büsing, which is indeed related to F. Roerich & Co. - Wessely sold I think some of their stock to Kratchovill and some to Roerich, or something, in 1885. So, my mistake!
Er, hrm. W&B would be (and was) "W. & B.", not "W.S."... maybe Schmid is right. Will have another look.
