Published in 1996 along with WK 226 in an edition that includes a harpsichord continuo (see here. Possibly published earlier (probably performed earlier.)) Date given as 1776. (I think Abel may also have written quartets with flute and viola da gamba (WK 227 in G is one) but this seems from the viola writing not to be among them?) (An Amadeus-Verlag publication of 2009 after these (and other?) manuscripts and the first publications (Erstdruck) also chooses the BC option.)
As to publication in the 1770s, Abel's quartets opus 8 were advertised for sale in a Madrid newspaper in 1 October 1776.
