  • Source? Say one suspected this was actually arranged the other way around, for clarinet quintet from the 2nd piece for orchestra by someone and then given to you by someone (as you say, scanner is unknown, so who knows who.) No source given, so-- who knows??? Also.. arranged for _piano_ as the 2nd piece for orchestra? That's a horribly inefficient use of an orchestra, call them in for the first piece, then just have the piano around for the 2nd. - Schissel
  • According to William Martin in his preface to the Musica Rara 1984 edition of this, there is a letter to Beliayev in which he said that the original version was clarinet solo with quartet. He also says the manuscript is in the Leningrad Conservatoire Library.
