This page relates to a duet scene for a projected opera written by Tchaikovsky in 1881 or 1893, and completed after his death by Sergei Taneyev. For the earlier overture-fantasia, whose themes were used in the duet, see Romeo and Juliet (overture-fantasia).

Misc. Comments

  • Tchaikovsky considered writing an opera on the subject of Romeo and Juliet between 1878 and 1881. Sketches for a duet scene, partly based on themes from the overture-fantasia, were found after the composer's death. Sergey Taneyev's completion of the duet was published by Jurgenson in 1895.
