Misc. Comments

  • These small pieces are an attempt to write in the style of traditional folk music for fiddle = violin played in a non-classical way. Four of the five pieces are inspired by traditional Swedish folk music for fiddlers, set for two fiddlers each. The first piece "Polska 1" exists in two settings, the first with a "lean" arrangement and the second with a "fat" arrangement, unsing more loose strings as "drones". The second piece "Polska 2" is based on a real simple Swedish Polska from Sörmland with the title "Dansa vill du, och danssa vill jag". The two following pieces are a simple waltz and a march tune, similar to a traditional Swedish marching tune of type "Gånglåt". The last piece is for one fiddler only. Itt is more in German style, a fast Polka which by me was given the name "Schweinsgalopp" (Pig's gallop). All pieces have to be played in fiddler's way, without using vibrato.
