Talk:Capriccio, Op.55 (Vieuxtemps, Henri)

Hi, I see that the title of this page has been changed, and I'd be very pleased to know where the source of this title comes. It seems that who did add this seems to be sure of it and from other things too about this work, for instance the op number.

But in another hand, the copy I've got seems to be an original edition, from Brandus & Cie. It was probably part of a bigger album though, since it holds the page numbers: 18-19, but the title of it is: "Capriccio pour alto seul" (Capriccio for solo viola), nothing else, however, the key is correctly c minor. thanks to leave an answer sometime. Dsoslglece, The title and opus number are taken from the list of works which can be accessed under the Vieuxtemps composer category. As you mentioned, the Brandus publication was part of a collection published posthumously, therefore the title and opus given in the standard works list (I think ours is derived from Grove) is used. Key and instrumentation should not normally be included as part of the title, unless there is a compelling reason to do so (yes, there are already too many violations of this rule at IMSLP, but we try to keep them to a minimum). I just noticed that I forgot to add the final "i" to "Paganini", so there will be a slight change shortly. Also note that we try to employ a consistent, concise format for the publisher citation: City (just the main headquarters, not the branch offices): Imprint (Publisher name at the time of first publication of this particular item - note that the name sometimes changes with reprints or reissues), date (in parens unless it appears on the first page of music, n.d. if no date appears in the score, followed by estimated date or known date in parens), plate number. Thanks for the excellent scan - the PNG format appears very nicely! Carolus 13:57, 1 October 2008 (EDT) (IMSLP Copyright Admin)

OK Carolus and thanks for the precisions... I'll try to remember the formats you indicate for further uploads. Dsoslglece 15:47, 4 October 2008 (EDT)
