Talk:Chant du ménestrel, Op.71 (Glazunov, Aleksandr)

Does anybody know whether the original work was composed for 'cello and piano or 'cello and orchestra? DavidTurner 14:16, 18 October 2007 (EDT)

Yes, It was composed for violoncello and piano, with the project of trasposing it to an orchestra-accompanied version.

The diligent way of working for a XIX century's composer clearly made obvious to write on the piano almost any work thought for orchestra, and, after some little or long time, to bring it to a full score. Any exception could take place, also relatd to some composers like Glazunov who conducted a troblesome life. The above explanation is to be intended as general practice for the time.
