Edition Peters (Sauers) 2-piano/4-hand works on Liszt
Do you think that these arrangments are on behalf of Sauer or that they are the original 2-piano/4-hand works arranged by Liszt? Reason I am asking is that we have some scores of this particular edition on Liszt's original 2-piano/4-hand workpages. --Funper 15:40, 29 May 2007 (EDT)
- Actually, I have no idea at all. Would Sauer do the effort of arranging everything if Liszt already did so? I'm afraid I won't have the time to find out in the coming period... Btw feel free to clean this page up and make it a special page - I found this on juilcat. Peter talk 17:25, 29 May 2007 (EDT)
- I am afraid I don't have the time right now. I am going to take a pause from imslp.. However Liszt made 2-piano arrangments of all the works mentioned in volume 11, except for "Phantasie über ungarische Volksmelodien" and "Polonaise brillante Op. 72". These are the only ones that Liszt didn't arrange for 2-piano. I have compared two transcription on Totentanz, one solo piano transcription by Liszt (Neue Liszt-Ausgabe) and the two piano arrangment from Edition Peters (I could't find any alternative two piano arrangments [attriuted to Liszt] that I could compare with). They are very different, especially how Liszt decided to render the orchestral part it in the solo piano transcript. This ausgabe specificly states "edited by Emil von Sauer"... which really doesn't lead me anywhere. --Funper 18:28, 29 May 2007 (EDT)
