Talk:Grande Etude-Galop, Op.21 (Quidant, Alfred)

Piece is similar to Gottschalk's "Tournament Galop".

I've just come across this piece, and found that it has an uncanny resemblance to Gottschalk's "Tournament" Galop (http://imslp.org/wiki/Tournament_Galop_%28Gottschalk,_Louis_Moreau%29). At least three separate themes are similar enough that it surely can't be coincidence.

Gottschalk's work is apparently from ca. 1854 - does anyone know when Quidant's piece was written? I'm just wondering which one came first. M.J.E. 16:45, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
