Very brief summary:
The soloist's declamatorical parts are arranged based on the model of Schütz's Historia der Geburt Jesu Christi. --Ralph Theo Misch 00:04, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
On the introducing pages (#1-14), Friedrich Zimmer suggests to spread the work onto the sundays of Lent. For this purpose he creates full orders of service considering those chorals from the appendix. --Ralph Theo Misch 23:46, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
The term 'Urtext' doesn't appear in this edition. But Stein's own editorial action is limited to the choice of a quasi modern form of notes for the recitatives (round notes without stems) - Grundig used the 'white' square notation. In all other respects Fritz Stein follows the proposals by Philipp Spitta (1885, Schütz Gesamtausgabe, Breitkopf & Härtel); both editions base upon the same source. --Ralph Theo Misch 23:49, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
