Misc. Notes Compare to the contents in the comment below; since the 1966 Neuhausen edition contains 10 numbered toccatas, 4 other toccatas with "(XIII)", "(XIV)" etc., 10 courantes, plus a Partita sopra La Romanesca and 2 versetti, it is obvious that this is a modern edition of the 1657 Toccate e correnti d'intavolatura d'organo e cembalo with its manuscript additions. Thus, the 4 extra toccatas, the partita and the 2 versets are considered "doubtful", and probably not by Rossi, although the other works are considered authentic.

Misc. Comments

  • According to Grove Music, Rossi published only one volume of keyboard music during his life; the Toccate e correnti d'intavolatura d'organo e cembalo, an undated work published in Rome, "which comprises ten pieces in each genre". However, Grove also lists toccatas, versetti, and a partita that are considered doubtful because they were manuscript additions to the later 1657 edition of this work.
