Hi. You recently uploaded several scores by Michael Edward Edgerton. Please let us know if you are Michael Edward Edgerton or if you have an explicit permission form him to redistribute his work. In the opposite case, we will have to delete these submissions. Cheers. Matthieu
hi peter, yes I'm Mike Edgerton the composer - I don't regularly check this, so missed your message - I guess I'll upload again in a while. Can I leave my email someplace safe?
Hi Peter (please call me Mike), yep that seems to be all! Thanks very much! I'm gonna try 1 or 2 more now.... thanks, Mike Hi Peter, is it correct to ask questions here? I tried to upload files to my string quartet no.1 and they seem to be there, but I can't submit them to the work page - am I really clueless here? thanks, Mike Edgerton
Hello Mike, Posting your works on IMSLP constitutes "publication" in the legal definition of the term in many countries including the USA and Canada. Our apologies for not having a guideline page set up yet for composers who wish to post their own works on IMSLP yet, where we will explain this and some other items that need to be a little different than the standard PD scan page. You should change the publisher field to "Michael Edward Edgarton" or "Composer" in the publisher field for the items you've uploaded as "unpublished" is not accurate. IMSLP is not a publisher, nor do we claim a share of any performing rights such as those collected by SOCAN, ASCAP or BMI. Therefore we ask that composers list themselves as "publisher" so as to avoid any possible confusion for someone who downloads and wishes to perform or record a new, copyrighted work. I changed the info on the page for Kut, to give an example of how things should appear. I linked your name in the publisher field directly to the page you've set up on Tripod to facilitate contact if someone would like to perform or record your work. You can just list your name or composer if you prefer. Thanks, Carolus 22:45, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
