Michael Edward Edgerton

Hi. You recently uploaded several scores by Michael Edward Edgerton. Please let us know if you are Michael Edward Edgerton or if you have an explicit permission form him to redistribute his work. In the opposite case, we will have to delete these submissions. Cheers. Matthieu

Please reply (by clicking "edit" on top of this page) - files to be deleted soon. --Peter talk 05:19, 21 July 2008 (EDT)
And done. --Peter talk 08:45, 23 July 2008 (EDT)

hi peter, yes I'm Mike Edgerton the composer - I don't regularly check this, so missed your message - I guess I'll upload again in a while. Can I leave my email someplace safe?

No problem, sorry for my speedy deletion! But might your work be uploaded by someone else without your consent, this would be the right action I think.
I will try to get them back - there's a "Recycle Bin" in the website. I think it's best to put your email address in the Preferences section (on top of the page). This way visitors can mail you without your address being revealed. You also can get a mail if new messages on this page appear.--Peter talk 20:13, 26 July 2008 (EDT)
Hello Mr Edgerton, I have restituted The Oak of Mambre, Tempo Mental Rap and 1 sonata. I believe that was everything? --Peter talk 06:31, 27 July 2008 (EDT)

Hi Peter (please call me Mike), yep that seems to be all! Thanks very much! I'm gonna try 1 or 2 more now.... thanks, Mike Hi Peter, is it correct to ask questions here? I tried to upload files to my string quartet no.1 and they seem to be there, but I can't submit them to the work page - am I really clueless here? thanks, Mike Edgerton

Publisher field

Hello Mike, Posting your works on IMSLP constitutes "publication" in the legal definition of the term in many countries including the USA and Canada. Our apologies for not having a guideline page set up yet for composers who wish to post their own works on IMSLP yet, where we will explain this and some other items that need to be a little different than the standard PD scan page. You should change the publisher field to "Michael Edward Edgarton" or "Composer" in the publisher field for the items you've uploaded as "unpublished" is not accurate. IMSLP is not a publisher, nor do we claim a share of any performing rights such as those collected by SOCAN, ASCAP or BMI. Therefore we ask that composers list themselves as "publisher" so as to avoid any possible confusion for someone who downloads and wishes to perform or record a new, copyrighted work. I changed the info on the page for Kut, to give an example of how things should appear. I linked your name in the publisher field directly to the page you've set up on Tripod to facilitate contact if someone would like to perform or record your work. You can just list your name or composer if you prefer. Thanks, Carolus 22:45, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
