User talk:Ocean jasper

Dear Ocean, The scores published by Ballard are not manuscript, but printed from engraved copper plates. The Phildor items are indeed manuscript, usually that of Philidor himself or associates. He was acting as a publisher or agent in any case, so his items are somewhat unique in that regard. It's probably best to include the information about their manuscript nature in the "Misc. comments" field. For most manuscript items, we simply use the Publisher field - e.g. "Manuscript, n.d.(ca.1750)." We actually have a category of manuscript scores, but it's not very complete or accurate as lots of uploaders are careless or confused about what is a manuscript scan and what is not.
