Adding a New Composer

I have added a new composer, Harry Drew (1851-1895), intending to add a work by him. However he does not appear in the list of composers, so there is apparently not a page for him to add a work to. I then thought I was mistaken in assuming I had added him, and tried to add him again, but this time I was told that the page existed. So it seems the page exists but is not shown. Because I can neither find his page or add a piece of music by him, I am completely stuck. Is there something I should know about what is happening? P0mbal 21:40, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

PDF files

I have a work which I have made into a PDF file, which the site says is the format to use for uploading to IMSLP. However when the uploading browser displays the files available it shows the names of the JPG files in the folder but ignores the PDF files, so I can't get hold of them. I cant see a way out of this if the browser wont see the PDFs. P0mbal 21:45, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

That's because you should not use the "upload file" link at the left sidebar to upload PDFs. Instead you need to add the file to a work page. If there is no work page, you will have to add one by using the "Add a piece to this page" link on the composer page. To add the PDF to the work page, use the "Add a score file to this page" link. Thanks, shall refer to your advice, Carolus. P0mbal 16:11, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Minuet for Piano (Drew, Harry)

Hi P0mbal. It appears that although you went through almost all of the upload process successfully (you must have eventually figured it out - judging from your comments above you were experiencing a bit of trouble), but it wasn't completed for some reason and the file wasn't added to the page you were submitting it to (even though it was uploaded). The most likely cause of this is that the 'signature' form wasn't completed - this appears after pressing the 'Submit!' button after filling out the file information. Other than that, everything seems to be fine, but if that part is left off and you have a CC-licensed file (I notice the file you uploaded was indeed a typeset), then it will be orphaned. If everything is done right, a page should come up with 'Success'. Thanks, KGill talk email 02:23, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your advice KGill. However there may be a copyright issue, because I typeset a substandard copy provided by the British Library. So I shall not attempt to add before I have checked more. P0mbal 16:11, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

Harry Drew and his Magnificat again

On 23/11/2012 I added composer Harry Drew (1851-1895), and then a jpg scan of a Magnificat by him. It appeared on IMSLP shortly after, but now all has disappeared without mention anywhere I can see. Will he reappear? Will he appear and disappear again if I have another try? No copyright issue with this one. Mysterious. If I was experienced at this I might have some idea what was going on. Can someone help? P0mbal 18:45, 25 November 2012 (EST)

It appears to still be on its work page found here=> Magnificat (Drew, Harry). --Cypressdome 18:53, 25 November 2012 (EST)

Elgar Carissima

Dear John, would it be possible for Elgar Carissima to send you the xml file or the individual voices as pdf files? Etkin's scans are difficult to read. Best regards Werner Höss mail: wernerhoesskoblenz@gmx.de

Default arranger name wrong

For a few months I have put up with having a wrong default arranger name, i.e. "Louis Elgar" forced on me when entering musical arrangement information. However while it is easy enough to change to the correct "John Morrison" by a quick edit once I have uploaded the arrangement, I would prefer not to have it happen. I don't know where in the system to go to correct this, and would be grateful for help from one who knows.

About Louis Elgar. As "Loo E. Elgar" he was was a composer of popular songs at the beginning of the 20th century. The 1911 census records him as a "Musical Director", born c.1888 in Wakefield Yorkshire, living then at Southend-on-Sea. I have a song written and composed by him "Alone on the Desert" published 1917 as No.54 in "Osborne's Popular Sixpenny Edition", and he has written others. I started adding it to IMSLP then stopped as I did not know when the composer had died, and it might be not PD. No known relative of Sir Edward.
