According to "The Bournonville Tradition: the first fifty years", some manuscripts and Bournonville diary entries belonging to and relating to his scenario for Hartmann (the work was also set to music by others) are probably from 1861, including one diary entry "probably" from March 30 1861 that mentions Hartmann specifically ("J.P.E. Hartmann sen.")
