Misc. Comments
For the 16th Sunday after Trinity.
Commentary on the movements
- [Chorale]1, Recitativo: Wer weiß, wie nahe mir mein Ende. An opening movement in a similar style to many of Bach's chorale cantatas,; however this chorus is interrupted thrice by recitatives (SAT).
- Recitativo (Tenor): Mein Leben hat kein ander Zeil. Secco recitative.
- Aria (Alto): Wilkommen! will ich sagen. A very strange combination of Oboe da Caccia, Concertante Harpsichord, and Alto voice makes for a completely unblended texture made beautiful by a very "accessible" melody1.
- Recitativo (Soprano): Ach, wer doch schon im Himmel wär! Recitative accompanied with strings, mostly in chords.
- Aria (Bass): Gute Nacht, du Weltgetummel! No obbligato instruments here; however, the musical material illustrates the dichotomous nature of the text.
- Choral: Welt, ade! Ich bin dein mude. A plain chorale setting.
