Hi Egknob, I think Emeraldimp meant whether or not you have gotten permission from the heir(s) of Glenn Gould (who own the copyright to the piece) to redistribute the scan... I understand that Gould has given permission for performing groups to reprint the score, but it might be problematic for IMSLP, since IMSLP is not a performing group... so I'm putting the page on Copyright Review, which means that if you can't provide permission from the author in a while I will have to remove the file :/

Well... I have 4 friends (here in Porto Alegre, Brazil), 4 singers... (I study at UFRGS, "Bachelor Degree" in Piano(?) (i really don't know how to say it in english :P)) that will sing that with me in a Recital at the end of this year... we have to record it, and then I can put that here? I loved the idea, althought I think you have been kind of ironic..."harsh", hehe, never mind... My intention was share a music that is hardly heard at concert halls... but you can hear it on the "Glenn Gould - The Composer" CD. hehe

I'm sorry to bring this to anyone's attention, but the arrangement of Siegfried-Idyll for piano by Glenn Gould is probably not public domain. Arrangements of PD works can be copyright as if they were new works. Siegfried-Idyll and any arrangement from before 1923 (in the U.S.) is probably PD, but after that, arrangements could still be in copyright. --Gilbertdh

Hi Feldmahler! For an upcoming concert, my orchestra is playing "Molly on the Shore" by Percy Grainger. I was ecstatic to find out that the edition we're playing from was published in 1911! The owner of the music is going to let me borrow it (the score and all the parts), BUT I know it's not public domain in Canada, since Grainger died in 1961. :You can just use the "move" function at the top of the page. The page names in the page itself (in the [[Category:]] tags) are sort keys, i.e. they control how the page is sorted in the categories, and have nothing to do with the page name itself. I'll move the page (and update the sort keys) for you. I've also just created a way for people to rename the pages without needing to change the sort keys (they are automatically regenerated), but that is unavailable on old pages (it will automatically work on new pages or pages which have new files submitted to them). --[[User:Feldmahler|Feldmahler]] 20:06, 9 March 2007 (EST)

Well, i got that score at eMule, and the score is from a deutsch site, as you can see on the first page of the file...
How I change the setting for the typeset? Which type of typeset you recommend I use for this music?

:Well... you will have to use the scan of a publication at least 50 years old, for it to be in the [[public domain]]. Or else, you can ask for permission from the person who did the typeset that you've submitted (maybe e-mail him?)... usually typesetters are happy for other sites to offer their files for download, but it is still necessary to ask for permission first :) --[[User:Feldmahler|Feldmahler]] 16:28, 11 March 2007 (EDT)

== Schubert Quintet ==

Well... the best way is to simply scan them in B&W with no conversion (maybe in an even higher resolution, since they compress to pretty small files anyway). But if you don't have time to rescan it, don't worry! You can upload them to IMSLP, without submitting them, and I'll take a look at the file and see if there's a way to make it smaller without losing quality. If everything else fails, I'll submit it as is; I'm kind of a quality-freak... I'll take a 78MB high quality PDF over a 3MB medium quality PDF any day :) And yes, grayscale usually doesn't convert well to monochrome :/

By the way, it might be a good idea to split the 78MB file into several chunks (pdftk maybe?) before uploading, since this server is really not very stable, and a 78MB upload has a high chance of timing out...

Very nice idea :) And I see you've implemented the category already. I agree with you on the last point... we'll need to be as cautious as we can. I have not yet heard anything from Mr.Aperghis, which is unfortunate :/ I will probably remove the scores soon, as I think I have already given him fair notice, and him not replying I will take to mean that either he doesn't care about whether the score is on IMSLP, or he doesn't want the score to be on IMSLP... and I think it might be safer to assume the latter. Thank you for pointing this out though :)

Hi EmeraldImp, I noticed that you have taken on the task of the Schubert string works that appear in the Dover volume, which is itself a reprint from the Breitkopf & Hartel complete works edition from the late 19th century. Gutenberg has already scanned this volume and has the tiff files (all 79 MB worth) available for download [http://www.gutenberg.org/music/available/schubert1/ here].
