:::Actually, your power of deleting pages is possessed only by admins of the site, and not by normal contributors. The reason for this is that, while some deletes may seem obvious to you, if everyone was able to delete anything they want without justification, the wiki would very soon sink into chaos. This is why I insisted that you use the power of deletion with moderation; the act of deletion is quite special, since it affirms your status as an admin. And consequently, one of the responsibilities that the admin bears is the justification of why the deletion is made, so that other contributors will be able to understand and trust the admin. This is why I always write a clear reason for deletion whenever I delete a page. --Feldmahler 23:09, 3 March 2007 (EST)

I'm sorry to bring this to anyone's attention, but the arrangement of Siegfried-Idyll for piano by Glenn Gould is probably not public domain. Arrangements of PD works can be copyright as if they were new works. Siegfried-Idyll and any arrangement from before 1923 (in the U.S.) is probably PD, but after that, arrangements could still be in copyright. --Gilbertdh
Molly on the Shore
Hi Feldmahler! For an upcoming concert, my orchestra is playing "Molly on the Shore" by Percy Grainger. but know I figured out, ok?
Well, i got that score at eMule, and the score is from a deutsch site, as you can see on the first page of the file...
How I change the setting for the typeset? Which type of typeset you recommend I use for this music?
Thanks...
Egknob 16:25, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
:Well... you will have to use the scan of a publication at least 50 years old, for it to be in the public domain. Or else, you can ask for permission from the person who did the typeset that you've submitted (maybe e-mail him?)... usually typesetters are happy for other sites to offer their files for download, but it is still necessary to ask for permission first :) --Feldmahler 16:28, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
Well... the best way is to simply scan them in B&W with no conversion (maybe in an even higher resolution, since they compress to pretty small files anyway). But if you don't have time to rescan it, don't worry! You can upload them to IMSLP, without submitting them, and I'll take a look at the file and see if there's a way to make it smaller without losing quality. If everything else fails, I'll submit it as is; I'm kind of a quality-freak... I'll take a 78MB high quality PDF over a 3MB medium quality PDF any day :) And yes, grayscale usually doesn't convert well to monochrome :/

By the way, it might be a good idea to split the 78MB file into several chunks (pdftk maybe?) before uploading, since this server is really not very stable, and a 78MB upload has a high chance of timing out...
Very nice idea :) And I see you've implemented the category already. I agree with you on the last point... we'll need to be as cautious as we can. I have not yet heard anything from Mr.Aperghis, which is unfortunate :/ I will probably remove the scores soon, as I think I have already given him fair notice, and him not replying I will take to mean that either he doesn't care about whether the score is on IMSLP, or he doesn't want the score to be on IMSLP... and I think it might be safer to assume the latter. Thank you for pointing this out though :)
Hi EmeraldImp, I noticed that you have taken on the task of the Schubert string works that appear in the Dover volume, which is itself a reprint from the Breitkopf & Hartel complete works edition from the late 19th century. Gutenberg has already scanned this volume and has the tiff files (all 79 MB worth) available for download here. ==Gnomeinregn and waldenwaltz==
I'd like to thank you for restoring those files I deleted! But you see, Gnomen and Waldensomething are a part of "Zwei Konzertetudes S.145". So why don't we just delete those extra pages that you restored because Gnomen and waldensomthing are a part my newly created article? :) --Funper 22:27, 3 March 2007 (EST)
:Well, in this case just move the file chunks from the two pages to the page you newly created. I'll delete the two old pages after you finish doing that :) --Feldmahler 22:37, 3 March 2007 (EST)
::already done that, but isn't this kind of decision one of those obvious that anybody can take? i mean is it obvious enough to remove it without telling the whole site? --Funper 22:44, 3 March 2007 (EST)
:::Okay, always write a clear reason for deletion. --Funper 10:50, 4 March 2007 (EST)
Public domain suggestion
You know, if you would host your files on an Iranian server, you wouldn't need to comply with any copyright laws... --Funper 20:57, 2 March 2007 (EST)
:Hahaha... that's almost like Sweden ;) (just kidding lol) --Feldmahler 18:16, 3 March 2007 (EST)
Wagner arranged by Glenn Gould
I'm sorry to bring this to anyone's attention, but the arrangement of Siegfried-Idyll for piano by Glenn Gould is probably not public domain. Arrangements of PD works can be copyright as if they were new works. Siegfried-Idyll and any arrangement from before 1923 (in the U.S.) is probably PD, but after that, arrangements could still be in copyright. --Gilbertdh
Molly on the Shore
Hi Feldmahler! For an upcoming concert, my orchestra is playing "Molly on the Shore" by Percy Grainger. I was ecstatic to find out that the edition we're playing from was published in 1911! The owner of the music is going to let me borrow it (the score and all the parts), BUT I know it's not public domain in Canada, since Grainger died in 1961. So, my question is, how do I upload it to the US server? Thanks! --Emeraldimp 12:18, 1 March 2007 (EST)
:Hi Emeraldimp! I'll set up a page describing the process for submitting such scores right away! :) --Feldmahler 15:46, 1 March 2007 (EST)
:: Ok, no rush, though, I won't have access to the score and parts for a couple weeks yet. --Emeraldimp 18:37, 1 March 2007 (EST)
Schubert Depression
I printed off Schubert's last sonata (in BbM) only to find that it had repeated pages and was QUITE out of order.
Just thought you should know.
Stravinsky Sacre du Printemps
Hi Feldmahler! Would it be possible to update the url for the Sacre du Printemps score? I'm unable to download the file, which is hosted on a US-server. Thanks in advance!
--Wannes 18:08, 4 March 2007 (GMT+1)
:Hi! I can download just fine. Can you give me a detailed reason why you cannot download the file? --Feldmahler 12:09, 4 March 2007 (EST)
::Well.. Firefox tells me it's looking for the server, and then I get a "page cannot be displayed" (404). --Wannes 19:02, 4 March 2007 (GMT+1)
:::Well... I can't really fix this since it works fine here... maybe you can check back later? --Feldmahler 13:21, 4 March 2007 (EST)
::::Perhaps there is some kind of nationality-check? --Wannes 19:25, 4 March 2007 (GMT+1)
::::Maybe you could transfer the file from the usfile.imslp server to the imslp server? --Wannes 19:27, 4 March 2007 (GMT+1)
:::::Doubtful; the work is still under copyright in Canada (life + 50 means it will be 2021 before Stravinsky is PD in Canada). Also, I was able to successfully download it just now. --Emeraldimp 14:33, 4 March 2007 (EST)
::::::Just like Emeraldimp said, it would be illegal for me to put the file on the Canadian server. --Feldmahler 17:26, 4 March 2007 (EST)
:::::::OK. Thanks for the quick & good response. --Wannes 9:03, 5 March 2007 (GMT+1)
Changing an Article Title
I uploaded this: Piano Sonata in F minor, Op.77 (Craw 259) (Dussek, Jan Ladislav). I would like to change the title to conform to the other Piano Sonatas. Piano Sonata, op. 77. I've tried every which a ways, but nothing changes the title. Do I have to delete it and add it again? Thanks. Gilbertdh
:You can just use the "move" function at the top of the page. The page names in the page itself (in the tags) are sort keys, i.e. they control how the page is sorted in the categories, and have nothing to do with the page name itself. I'll move the page (and update the sort keys) for you. I've also just created a way for people to rename the pages without needing to change the sort keys (they are automatically regenerated), but that is unavailable on old pages (it will automatically work on new pages or pages which have new files submitted to them). --Feldmahler 20:06, 9 March 2007 (EST)
Mahler's Piano Quartet
Hi! Thanks! I have many things to share, here with me.
This Piano Quartet is my favorite work for this kind of ensemble. And there were some informations I didn't know. For example, the typeset...i even know what is a typeset, hahaha
but know I figured out, ok?
Well, i got that score at eMule, and the score is from a deutsch site, as you can see on the first page of the file...
How I change the setting for the typeset? Which type of typeset you recommend I use for this music?
Thanks...
