Alguna gente ha dudado de que podamos mantener nuestra palabra. Alguna gente ha cuestionado nuestra capacidad. Alguna gente ha asegurado, a pesar de su simpatía hacia nosotros, que el Proyecto IMSLP había sido clausurado para siempre.

Estamos aquí para probar que estaban equivocados.

Con gran alegría les traigo la noticia de la resurrección del Proyecto. Continuamos creyendo que el acceso al arte y la cultura es un derecho fundamental de cada ser humano. Y como mantenemos esta creencia, continuaremos llevando adelante la tarea de proveer acceso público al dominio público musical, a la facilitación del estudio, la comprensión y el disfrute de la música.

Y en el espíritu de la apertura y la accesibilidad es que dedico oficialmente este Proyecto a [[wikipedia:Ottaviano Petrucci|Ottaviano Petrucci]], un pionero cuyos logros hicieron a la música mucho más accesible tanto para músicos como para amantes de la música en general durante los siguientes seis siglos. En adelante, el Proyecto tendrá dos nombres: '''Proyecto Internacional de Partituras Musciales''' (o IMSLP, por sus siglas en inglés) y '''Biblioteca musical Ottaviano Pettrucci'''. el dominio [http://petruccimusiclibrary.org petruccimusiclibrary.org] será redirigido en los próximos días a [http://imslp.org imslp.org].

Antes de ahondar en los detalles de la reapertura, quisiera darle el debido reconocimiento a las personas y organizaciones que la hicieron posible.

Obviamente, la reapertura hubiese sido imposible sin el debido soporte legal, y quiero agradecer a los amigos del Consultorio Canadiense de Políticas de Internet e Interés Público ([http://cippic.ca Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic], CIPPIC) y al [http://cyberlaw.stanford.edu/taxonomy/term/374 Proyecto Stanford de Uso Justo] (Fair Use) por brindar su apoyo, crucial en tiempo de crisis y a los profesores Michael Geist y Lawrence Lessing por recomendar el caso IMSLP a los dos consultorios legales.

A pesar de que hoy el Proyecto cuente con otras vías de apoyo legal, el soporte de estos consultorios fue providencial tanto para mí personalmente como para el Proyecto.

Además, quiero agradecer a [[wikipedia:es:Michael Hart|Michael Hart]], director del [http://gutenberg.org Proyecto Gutenberg], y a [[wikipedia:es:Richard Stallman|Richard M. Stallman]], líder del [http://gnu.org Proyecto GNU]. El Sr. Stallman ha apoyado continuamente al Proyecto IMSLP durante los períodos más oscuros incluso a pesar de tener una agenda terriblemente apretada, por lo que le estoy enormemente agradecido.

También me apena el hecho de que no se haya llegado a un acuerdo entre el Proyecto Gutenberg e IMSLP, pero creo que la situación actual es la más beneficiosa para ambas partes. De todos modos, estoy muy interesado en lograr un acuerdo de "espejado" (mirroring), donde Gutenberg tenga acceso a la totalidad del sitio de IMSLP, y que resultará muy útil en caso de una emergencia de cualquier tipo.

También quisiera agradecer a todos los colaboradores del Proyecto cuyo trabajo (que incluye una exhaustiva revisión del copyright de más de 16.000 obras) fue indispensable para la reapertura del sitio. Estoy ansioso de trabajar con ustedes en el futuro, avanzando en nuestro objetivo común.
