History

Founded by Joseph Aibl (1802-1834) in 1825. The firm also sold instruments. His widow took over after his death in 1834. The firm again changed hands in 1837, and was then operated by Eduard Spitzweg (1811-1884). Eugene Spitzweg, his son sold the firm to Universal Edition in 1904.
