A search reveals no earlier publication than 1907, but maybe there was... Recorded in 1992 on Musica Sveciae, and on BIS.

According to this thesis for a doctorate (from 1926, Swedish only) http://su.diva-portal.org/smash/get/diva2:452920/FULLTEXT01 the composition was first published by Abr. Lundquist in 1872. The database Swedish Musical Heritage (managed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music) shows the plate number for the first issue http://www.swedishmusicalheritage.com/composers/soderman-august/SMH-W943-Andliga_sanger/ which is the same as on the scanned score

Thanks! I know of and have used SMH (for checking the movement headings of his fantasy-piano quartet e.g.) and should have remembered them :) Was it as certainly composed in 1872 or should that date be left out as unknown? Thanks.- ES
