This London firm of music sellers and publishers operated from 1833 to 1849. It took over the long-standing publisher Preston & son. Its output included a number of important works including many of Handel’s works originally issued by Walsh, Randall and others. Novello & co took over the firm in 1849, after John Hollier had left the partnership.
Coventry & Hollier was closely connected with Mendelssohn. It commissioned his organ sonatas, which were printed both in London and in Leipzig (Breitkopf und Härtel) in 1845.
