In 1787 the work was revised for string quartet. According to Wikipedia, this version has come under suspicion for authenticity, but Grove Music doesn't seem to consider it doubtful. A version for piano was published in 1788 – not by Haydn but of which Haydn approved.

Navigation etc.
Wikipedia editors aren't alone in regarding the string quartet version of doubtful source (etc)- HC Robbins Landon did as well (in one of his books on Haydn's symphonies, if memory serves; will re-check if I can...), I believe. (Who wrote the Grove article, by the way? George Grove? Or a particular editor? "Grove" is an unhelpful shorthand- at best.) - Schissel
The (a) version for piano was published as 7 Sonatas, Op.45 by Longman and Broderip, registered at London's Stationers' Hall on January 17, 1788. (The Artaria piano reduction available above may, however, be the version referred to as approved of by Haydn; as noted it may have been published even earlier than the Longman & Broderip...) - ES
