John Speechly Gotch (1829-1901) an immigrant from England started a book distribution business with Alexander Gordon in the 1850s. It became Gordon & Gotch in 1885. Music publishing was a minor sideline.
The company is now a major magazine distributor in Australia, and is part of Murdoch's PMP group.
