This cantata is "distinguished by its exceptional wealth of forms: no one movement is remotely like another."¹

1. Aria (Soprano): Gottlob! nun geht das Jahr zu Ende. A very straightforward, accessible aria in 3/4. The winds and strings are segregated to form two distinct choirs within the instrumental texture; the material alternates between the two. Unusually, the aria is not a da capo aria. a minor
2. Choral: Nun lob, mein Seel, den Herren. A setting of Gramann's hymn, using the upper line as a cantus firmus in the soprano and having the other parts weave a contrapuntal texture around it. C Major
3. Recitativo ed Arioso (Bass): So spricht der Herr: Es soll mir eine. A "motivic" arioso in declamatory style, preced by one line of recitative. e minor
4. Recitativo (Tenor): Gott ist ein Quell, wo lauter Güte fleußt. A straightforward recitative accompanied with strings. G Major-C Major
5. Aria Duetto (Alto, Tenor): Gott hat uns im herigen Jahre gesegnet. A duet for alto, tenor, and continuo, stylistically similar in many places to love duets from Italian Opera. C Major
6. Choral: All solch dein Güt wir preisen. Plain chorale. a minor
