Description

Christian Mondrup, the caretaker of the Werner Icking Music Archive, contacted IMSLP in August 2011 with a proposal to merge WIMA's entire collection of files into IMSLP in order to remove the dependence on the site from Mondrup himself. After more than two weeks of discussions, an agreement to proceed was finally reached.

File Types

The files on WIMA fall into three groups:

  • PDF files - These can be uploaded directly onto IMSLP at the present time.
  • Audio files - At the current time, only recordings of human performances are acceptable. Computer-generated files can be uploaded here once a new feature is introduced to clearly separate them. (See IMSLP:Performers Portal#Recording Policy, due for revision in the near future)
  • Source files - Cannot be uploaded to IMSLP. These will be linked to from IMSLP and hosted on an external server. More details to come.

Permissions

Since every file on WIMA is either a new edition, a new arrangement, or an entirely new composition, they all require their authors' permission to be posted on IMSLP. A list of WIMA contributors who have given consent to have their files transferred to IMSLP can be found here (accessible only to project members). When uploading from WIMA, be absolutely sure to use the license that the contributor has specified.

Uploading

After you upload a file, please add an entry listing the original link to the WIMA file and the direct link to its new IMSLP# at IMSLP:WIMA/Log. Follow the format of entries already present. To obtain the link to an IMSLP#, simply type the number into the search box and click the 'IMSLP#' button. When every file contributed by a person has been uploaded to IMSLP, please note it in the 'Completed Contributors' section at the bottom of this page.
