History

John Bland was a London publisher, probably related to another London publisher and contemporary, Anne Bland. He seems to have started publishing about 1779. When Joseph Haydn visited London, Bland hosted him at his house over the music shop for a while. He died or ceased trading in late 1794. The business premises passed into the hands of "Lewis, Houston and Hyde", then F. Linley (or possibly vice-versa), and then (before 1800) William Hodsoll. Z. T. Purday was the owner in 1840.
