History

John Bland was a London engraver, printer, music seller and publisher, probably a relation of Anne Bland. He seems to have been active from about 1776. When Joseph Haydn visited London, Bland hosted him at his house over the music shop for a while. He died or ceased trading in late 1794.
The business premises and remaining stock passed into the hands of Lewis, Houston and Hyde; thereafter Francis Linley ,1797-1798. In 1798 William Hodsoll took over the premises, succeeded by Zenas Trivett Purday in 1831.
Publications of Lewis, Houston & Hyde, and of F. Linley, to be linked as J. Bland.
