Commonly accepted as a collection of works by Bertali, perhaps due to Sébastien de Brossard's attribution. The composer is given on the title page only as J.S.A.B. Several sonatas have been identified as works by other composers; Samuel Capricornus (Sonatas Nos. 1-6 in Part 2) and Schmelzer (Sonata No.7 in Part 2).
