The series started in 1882 and was already at No.64 by 1889. It appears to have merged with a similar series entitled Morceaux célèbres around 1898 or 1899, perhaps due to Petersen being sold. The arrangers and editors Kross and Sitt appear to have likewise joined the series about this time. By 1910, Bosworth seems to have lost interest in the series, which had grown to nearly 200 titles.
