Obtaining High-Resolution Images ⟨User:Tim.willis1685 [#10290]

Hi Tim Willis,
I've just realized, that you upload quite many scores and espacially manuscript scans from other pages like SLUB.
The scans you can download from these pages are usually much lower in resolution than the ones these libraries hold.
I have written a simple JAVA program that you can use to get the original high resolution scans from some of these pages. The usage is described here where you can also download the program.
I used it to download some of the Heinichen scans from SLUB, that you uploaded here already, again so you can see the differences.
I would really appreciate if you could try and use the JAVA program, because the scans obtained are of really much higher quality.
Thank you in advance.

No problem, I am enjoying using the program very much.

Can you offer some advice on how to use the program for Bach Digital? Using this as an example: http://www.bach-digital.de/receive/BachDigitalSource_source_00017511 I have entered 00017511 into the program; nothing happens when I click "download". I also tried the number given by the Basso Continuo PDF generator (00025351) which doesn't work either. Do I have to do something different for this site?

The id 00017511 is correct.
There are two things to know:

  1. when downloading from Bach Digital (especially when there are many pages "below" the id) it takes a while before the download of the first page starts, because all page information (that is many html pages with text information) is read in the beginning
  2. the images are sometimes huge (and that is the case here with more than 6000x9000 pixels) and therefor you need huge amounts of memory - remember me asking if you use the exe version of the downloader that already starts with enough heap memory a few days ago, here you absolutely need this big heap

hope that helps.
